Earth Day came and evening went, the first trial. Our earth is still spinning.
Spring also has unsprung, the second day. Flowers but also buckthorn grow. Renewal commences.
May Day has passed into the past, the third trial. But regimes still falter and fall.
And we harken to it, despite the prospect of potentially going fishless, on this differs-by-state opener. It was cold, to boot. Do trout like such water? They did on one side of the boat in Jesus’ time.
Rather, combine jersey and braided ponytails with a backwards-but-slightly-twisted baseball hat, while a homer is hit, at the bar. She’ll get the attention sought.
So now we just have, quite obscurely, observance of Cinco De Mayo, as salvation in the same way as Mardi Gras, to grace our online calendars, especially if you are an immigrant. Both holidays are steeped in the spiritual. And in food and drink.
Then the universal Mother’s Day, as we all need a sympathetic, or maybe not, matronly madonna figure to guide us through the endless travails, yet another trial. And also get rewarded for it. With a Mom’s Day Mimosa?
So, with mom’s sometimes-stern help, we’ve all not been blown to smithereens, just yet. Just tell that bit of news to the people living in the Ukraine, (or Palestine or Israel or Iran for that matter), especially those in the bombed out zone whose imminent conquest is considered one of the few last strongholds for the former, or to others living in such fickle sanctuaries. War indeed is hell on earth, during this Earth Day past, as is lack of water to drink or boil your food — hey didn’t they say this is what the (upcoming) World War III would be fought over — as well as famine, POW camps, forced conscription … you name it. Sometimes the abuse is on one’s own troops, with a Korean sledgehammer to the stomach, as … basic training? Even in the USA, and its failure to provide regular meals to troops on certain lines.
Happy, and funny, spring? Stand-up comics like Kimmel aren’t the only thing that are said to bomb, and I throw myself and my abrupt wisdom into the chaotic mix. May Day, communists among us, also is amidst us. Maybe we should indeed ceed it to the Pagans, before all hell breaks loose, in final form.
Saving it …
But to start, all is not lost, as challenges are just cloaked opportunities in sheep’s clothing. I’ll take with my thoughts, the consequences in mostly a rambling chronological order — of what I’ve seen outside, or heard from inside, my birds-chirping window — as pray tell we could use a little help. Eternity indeed is that way.
On or around Earth Day, a local Post-Pagan group has formed an event that’s a mini-circle of prayer — or could be a mosh pit’s dancing if enough attend — taken loosely, and also bringing in meditation, moreso, and thus presents a bigger circle to us, spiritually speaking and Mother-Planet-Earth oriented.
As I’m writing, I listen on-screen to Led Zeppelin and Stairway to Heaven, and mosh to that and its earth-toned message, a song quite contrary to alleged back-masking with its late-verse reference to the May Day’s Queen, which with varied religious interpretations aside has value with it symbolic meaning for spring and renewal. I also see, at the front of my vision, what was termed as a “warning” online pollution message concerning those bits of cultivated nature scattered-about on our sand and its beaches, and their relationship to the cukes and for you affordability folks those three products you can get at less than a half-dollar per pound at any Kwik Trip convenience store — onions, potatoes and bananas. Really, that pitance taken and we’re not worrying about nuclear war, instead what a seagull might eat, thus cleaning the beach? You could get more of these pieces — some flavors — supplied by your local SAIA, or SIAI, Asian foods truck, I think it is, since they seem to be just about everywhere in the bar and restaurant district, and Mexican food dining by comparison is in more scarce supply, because of the ongoing ICE-based elimination, come just prior to Cinco De Mayo. But hey, after they were shutdown, some sources such as Azul Tequila, are now back! Check out their Go Fund Me page to supplement the lost wages of workers.
This said, another online argument that is brewing, is if a tree falls on your neighbor’s fence, who owes it, and must keep care of it. If a tree falls and makes a rushing sound in the forest, but no one hears it, did it really occur? As per local ordinance? This as Tree City USA and its assigned designees, use this weekend to celebrate 50 years in business. Into thus fly, and make a nest, some less than common birds nextdoor to my abode, that in Purple finches. They opted not for a tree, but under a low-ceiling decorated archway.
All involved seemed to be laboring. With thus was offered and soon could be lofted a mattress, up a set of steep stairs to an upstairs apartment down the way, (new start), or a finger extended to hold a string in helping secure a library sign between flights of such stairs (new recognition). One offer for aid was taken and another passed upon, thank you.
