The hearsay vote will be read by some as pure heresy, as Hermening spies the ‘country club crowd’ for how he can putt to quasi-greatness and quash Trump. Then in today’s election there’s a pro-life, run-of-the-mill muckadymuck, a Hong pro-education predictable, and a sharper than the average sheep Shannon (yes it’s a he.) THat’s what flyers tell us about the Day’s Of Our Lives. Today.

Hey today they threw it all back to you, as it is election day, and with it the last Badger gasp — if least if they’re our candidates — (is that the throaty noise they make?), with a soar-throated, campaign-trail rasp made by an audio-version plethora of last-minute flyers that fill our boxes with hopes to grasp, so we can check their boxes when we go to the polls and pick a (partial) winner to move on to full November midterms.

Less then the Trump-triumphed manhandling our mailboxes got however, in the last election of this type. Those worn, creaking wood posts were left wreaking in the wake of the volume of ads inside the careening boxes they propped up.

Leading on my eye is an especially thick flyer that states and I quote, “Do you want America first … … (twice) or the Country Club Crowd.” The golf clubbers or so they are dubbed, look especially dour, as Trump points at them with his vicious finger. “The man who would be king, is the watcher in the ring.” Watching YOU!! That being at Kevin Hermening.

This is a man who allegedly worked AGAINST Trump in 2016. He’s mocking him now. Wait, I though it was Trump who plays for $1M a hole — then throws his iron into the seaside lake after he shoots his golf ball into the pool, almost taking off the head of his caddie and Bill Murray at the same time!

Poor Kevin it’s said donated to and advised Scott Walker’s campaign in the mere Badger State against the larger-than-life king figure — with a friend of mine standing tall although short in stature as my stated odd bedfellows fellow, being a former military brat and then adult service-member and businesswomen with her husband, so obviously a Republican, but for Walker, of his a personal friend and one of his local — OK county level — advisors, and not for Trump, but against Trump? Is that legal?

“It’s not like he’s (Trump) the Supreme Leader, right,” raved the New York Post, although in his own mind, Putin style.

Hermening calls his campaign “grassroots” while writing himself checks for over $1 million — that’s all, nothing by Trump’s standards — 95 percent of everything his campaign has raised, the flyer says. Uhm, just who the hell is running against whom?

There are two kinds of conservatives … uhm like over in Minnesota, the pillow man maker going up for governor against far from a simple conservative Amy Kolbychar.

Then to that end … on the front of a campaign flyer from conservative Jessi Ebben, the question of all questions, Would you save her? A baby stroller perched on railroad tracks? Nah, I’d rather roast her on a spit of fire from hell! Just kidding.

The usual descriptions … a pro-life champion who won’t back down when the cameras turn off, or the votes get tough. That instinct … More platitudes. “Too many talk a good game on life. They show up at rallies. They sign the pledges. Then they go quiet.” Paid for by the American Future Fund.

America needs more children. Screw overpopulation. “Our population is shrinking. (Almost said shirking. Screw the Muslims, too, who allegedly are trying to take over the world.) Birth rates are collapsing. And it’s no accident — the radical woke left (has awoke come now election time) has declared war on the traditional family.” Now apparently extinct.

No Apologies. No compromise. And god forbid, an action plan:

“Permanently defund Planned Parenthood. Not one more taxpayer dollar to the nation’s largest abortion mill. (Not concerned about puppy mills.) Stop mail-order abortion pills from being shipped out from Califonia and New York (India but not Indiana OK) into red states. State pro-life laws must be respected. Ban late-term abortion. America is better than that. Require parental consent. No underage girl should be taken for an abortion behind her parfent’s backs. Period. (Slap them around for their decision to get pregnant instead.) Love them both. Make sure young mothers have the resources and support to choose life (from taxpayer money?) — whether raising their child or choosing adoption. (To hell with those who abort.)”

This sounds good but is way too simplistic, as you can see from my sarcasm, and is meant for those 29 percent or so still behind Trump.

Now for a change of pace. I’m not so far behind Shannon Zimmerman, for state assembly. Son of a single mom and from a small town. “Don’t listen to all the junk that will fill your mailbox and the air waves,” Zimmerman said.

And he stands with Dem. Gov. Evers? Negotiating the effort for a $1.8 billion tax cut, which passed the assembly. (No word about what happened in the senate, at least not immediately.) But his special session cometh. Eliminated taxes on cash tips and overtime pay. Yay! Directed $315 milion MORE into special education programs. Voted to protect people from data centers threatening higher utility rates and waterways. (No word about how to protect AI.) Voted for legislation expanding postpartum care for new moms and reducing healthcare premiums; and to block adversary nations like China from buying our farms and land; and to increase funding for prosecutors.) Note that there recently was reportedly the sale of a prominent Hudson waterfront eatery, after massive reconstruction, to a Japan private equity firm, although I could not independently confirm this.

Lastly, Francesca Hong for governor plans to fully-fund public schools by taxing the ultra-rich, raise teacher pay so our best educators stay, and guarantee every child a quality education — not just the rich. No word how she’d do this. Paid for by Middle Class Priorities, not any candidate or candidate’s committees. No mention of even what party, if any, she is from, although it singles out the Aug. 11 Democratic Primary as actionable. In that, she lists (war-chests) many prime endorsements, ten that bear full-weight, reaching across the aisle, so to speak, into the Gopher State and who goeth there. And she slams AI data centers, too, make water boil, sorta, and energy bills heat it. OK, that’s hyperbole.

When my niece got married, everyone knew the wedding was going to be as extravagant and elaborate as they do it down in Austin, TX, where she worked for a couple of years before deciding to go back and get her Master’s in Wisconsin, in either Madison or Milwaukee, quickly done mind you and then soon, and after a slightly postponed European honeymoon and an apartment found, start working as a social worker in one of those two areas. So you can see, there is a degree of impulsivity, although she was very certain in her choice of a mate...
Hey, those marketers I compete with, and not telemarketers as even I wouldn’t stoop that low no matter how financially addled and not from India, with their flyer of the day(s), are getting more creative. As far as again, their marketing. Case in point. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Subway. And not the mass transit kind that’s full to the gills Out East. The food chain one has great prices for a whole lotta food, and great specials too. So this is not completely sour grapes. But this one rubbed me the wrong way, like an old sauce...
As the months turned, this is the season for truck and tractor pulls, (and corn feeds, too, all around), and this time around moreso, the kids are all right and cooking and taking the reins, as this weekend in Hammond Heartland Days, in the heart and center of St. Croix County. To that early-in-statement end, there is a truck and tractor pull At The Days, but don’t diss or miss it, it is not necessarily for these huge hulksters seen on ESPN lunking things like a semi and than climbing (aboard) up the steps of a set of bleachers to...
At the GasLite Bar and grill grounds in Ellsworth will commence in style the fourth annual TRIMBELLE DAYS event, running Aug. 1 and 2, with a noon Saturday start slated for the tractor pull (registration begins 90 minutes earlier) featuring antique and farm stock and shortly afterward Eddie’s acoustic solo act with a 1-3 p.m. outdoor bar and a Sunday, UTV Ride at 11 a.m. That’s followed up in a like minded way by the Saturday, Aug. 8 Hogs For Heroes with a presentation of keys ceremony at 12:30 p.m. with a Wisconsin veteran recipient getting Back to The Road with the healing gift...
